Ive been playing backgammon for years and this is the most powerful nice looking software Ive seen yet.

Yup, apparently SKILL means LUCKY with this AI. Talk about rolls being fixed!! Takes all the enjoyment out of this. However, if you are looking for a good game to play online, this one is good for that. As far as playing the computer - forget it. Expert level just means that the AI gets the perfect roll every single time. No fun in that. Theres far better apps out there for practicing with.

This is great simple interface, nice options for one touch playing and good tutorial options. And it doesnt cheat. The people who are saying that just dont understand how random events sometimes dont go in your favour. Sometimes the computer will get the perfect roll 5 times in a row in a match, just as often I will get the perfect roll 5 times in a match. You just notice it more when your opponent gets the perfect rolls, if you want to know why go ask a psychologist. Seriously, why would any developer make a high quality backgammon game that cheats when no cash gambling is taking place.... Their is nothing in it for the programmer. These accusations are asinine.

There is nothing not to like about this app. And while it is indeed challenging at the Expert level, I can still beat the computer about 50% of the times with an ELO of about 1670. I love this app!

At this point I am ahead of this app by a score of 37 to 7. Yet my ER rating is 9.1. Go figure! This app also knows what rolls are coming and clearly uses that knowledge to influence its decisions. I could do the same, of course, but I refuse to stoop to that level. This is the most annoying game that I have ever played. The real challenge in buying this game is to figure out how it cheats. I have!!! This app will not allow a zero star rating. I was forced to give it one star. Play it with manual rolls and have a better experience. Even better ... Do not buy this game!!!!

Good game...well built, but one flaw, is that it gives lotta doubles....can you prevent that? Thank you

At last, a version of Backgammon that is quick and challenging - even at the Hard level. I soon downgraded from Difficult until I get more training! Well worth the money - just glad I am not playing for money!

People seem to whine about the AI cheating, but honestly, they simply ignore the statistics. Confirmation bias prevents them from recognizing that good rolls happen on both sides. I’ve played hundreds of matches against the AI and I’ve been incredibly lucky about as often as the AI has. That said, the AI is really strong. The moves it makes are almost always the best choice (in my opinion). For fun, play a game where you move and before committing, ask for a hint and compare what you chose to what is suggested. Then you’ll see just how smart the AI truly is. Anyway, this is by far the best backgammon on available on the App store.

AI makes moves knowing what the future rolls are and will pull amazing rolls to win in hard modes. Despite being able to see the future rolls, the computer will also make moves that force you into plays. We need a real backgammon game!!!!

Ive owned it since it first came out. Cheating is a common complaint with AI games. Ive played many computer backgammon games over the years. This one doesnt cheat. Online play is available using Game Center. I also have Snowy and this game plays at a very comparable level.

Love the game, but not the waiting and waiting for a player only to have them cancel your request. Very frustrating. I will be looking for another site.

get this game if you want to learn how to play the game at a high level

Call me picky, but there is one feature missing that I wish was there: The one tap move option is deep in the settings and can only be toggled on and off from there. This is an inconvenience when this option is on, and doesnt allow you to do a specific and strategically important move, at which point it would be great if we could quickly and temporarily toggle it off in order to make this move. This should be easy to do directly from within the game, instead of requiring opening settings and going deep in there to do this simple operation. Again, I am very aware that this is a detail, but greatness happens to be in the details. And when you pay for an application, you expect greatness. After all, there are good backgammon games out there that are free.

This game has "magical" dice that disproportionately gives the computer the perfect rolls and you cant catch a break. Doesnt make for fair games. Doubles are fairly even,,,computer gets high doubles, you get low doubles.

This is the best backgammon game I have found so far. The dice seem random and the programing is strong. My own experience has found it more difficult to get back on the board than normal, but that may just be coincidence to me unless other reviewers are finding the same thing. Update-I am convinced it cheats in this regard.

Nice app , rolls clearly favoring the computer especially when it needs to come back on the board. Quite a shame.

Easy to play, great learning tool, but if a human got the doubles and perfect rolls that the program does, youd swear they were throwing loaded dice

It is axiomatic that people who lose at backgammon limit on the dice. But good news lead to good rolls. The experts know that "good rolls" develop from sound play. I consistently beat my brother in law at backgammon because I understand the game and know how to play. He blames it on the dice every time. If I had lucky dice why wouldnt he have lucky dice half the time? Because it isnt the dice. This is an excellent app and it has greatly improved my game. Absolutely the best backgammon app Ive ever seen.

To anyone who thinks it cheats: it comes with detailed instructions on how to verify that it doesnt cheat.
